How to Add Microsoft 365 Email to an iPhone

,

This guide shows you how to add your Microsoft 365 (Office 365) email to an iPhone. There are two easy ways to do it — the Microsoft Outlook app (recommended) or the iPhone’s built-in Mail app. Both work well, so pick whichever you prefer.

Before you start

Have your full Microsoft 365 email address and password ready. If your business uses extra security, you may be asked to install the Microsoft Authenticator app or approve your sign-in — just follow the prompts when they appear.

Option A: The Microsoft Outlook app (recommended)

  1. Open the App Store, search for Microsoft Outlook, and tap to install it. Open the app once installed.
  2. Tap Add Account (or Get Started if it’s your first time).
  3. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and tap Add Account.
  4. Enter your password and tap Sign In, then approve any verification prompt.
  5. Allow notifications if asked. That’s it — your email, calendar and contacts will sync automatically.

Option B: The iPhone Mail app

  1. Open Settings and tap Apps > Mail (on older iOS versions, just tap Mail).
  2. Tap Mail Accounts > Add Account.
  3. Select Microsoft Exchange.
  4. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and a short description, then tap Next and Sign In.
  5. Enter your password and approve any verification.
  6. Choose what you’d like to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes) and tap Save.

Which should I choose?

The Microsoft Outlook app generally gives the best all-round experience for Microsoft 365, including calendar and contacts. The built-in Mail app is handy if you prefer to keep all your email in one place on your iPhone.
